The World Festival Premiere of The Barrio Murders was a huge success thanks to all those who helped get the word out. The Highland Theater was packed to capacity and then some. The Theater itself seats 250 and people were left standing in the back and/or sitting in the isle.

We're guessing there was about 270 people in attendance Friday night. A record breaking number in the history of the Xicano Festivals seven year run. This should give us more momentum to help build on the buzz already surrounding the film.

The general consensus after the screening is that everyone pretty much loved it. The producers wish to thank all those who helped make the event possible and thank all those who showed up to support the film's premiere.

We will also be trying to convince the Executive Producers to have an industry screening a.s.a.p. Hopefully, sometime in September. That will be free and for those who haven't seen it or those who would like to see it again... you'll be more than welcomed.

Again thank you everyone and keep checking back for future updates.

Hey All! Good news!!! Marisa Ramos the Executive Producer who was present on festival premier night was so taken by the audiences response that she now wants to have an industry screening! Which means cast and crew and their family and friends will more than likely be invited. It will all be for free and catered! This will be a huge publicity party with invites going out to the press both english and spanish and anyone who wants to invite agents? Now's the time.

Presently we are looking at the end of Sept. maybe the 28th to have this big premiere. I'll keep you posted. Keep checking back and keep your fingers crossed.

The Barrio Murders

03/20/2002

It's been awhile since the last update with the Barrio Murders. A lot of time has passed since our successful run at the Chicana/o Film Festival. For some of you who attended Barrio Murders had a two day theatrical release at the Sunset Leammle 5 in the heart of Hollywood. We had a pretty good turn out even though the movie ran at 10:30am in the morning and we had less than a week to promote. About 54 heads were counted on the Sat. showing and about 70 for the Sun. release.

In the interim Barrio Murders has been rejected by pretty much every Latino Film Festival. No surprise to director Jojo Henrickson. Among the festival to have rejected it are Cinefestival (San Antonio), Cine Las Americas (Austin), San Diego Latino Film Festival, HBO Comedy Arts Film Festival, Santa Barbara Film Festival and a slew of others I care not to mention.

On the upside, we are proud to announce that The Barrio Murders has been accepted into the Chicago Latino Film Festival and in the words of producer Bill Holmes, "Hey, Chicago. It's my kind of town."

The movie will screen on April 9th and April 11th with the directo in attendance.

We are hopeful that Cineaccion (San Francisco), Los Angeles Latino Film Festival (Eddy Olmos) and the Cinesol Festival (South Texas) will follow in the steps of Chicago and recognize a good film when they see it.

Hey All ! It's been awhile but here goes the latest update. We had a huge success at the Chicago Latino Film Festival in April. Great festival. A true class act. The Los Angeles Latino (Eddy Olmos Film Festival) pretty much gave us the finger. No surprise, I guess. Barrio Murders can be found and purchased online at amazon.com, barnes&noble.com or even blockbuster.com and a slew of other online sites. Do a google search and you'll see what I mean. Things are moving at a snail's pace but still moving nonetheless. Till next time.
